Crop Profit Formulas & Rounding

See how harvest schedules, seed batches, first-item quality, Tiller truncation and growth-calendar rounding determine Stardew crop profit.

How to use this page

Planting day is day zero. With N watered days available and G days to mature, the first harvest happens after G days and is possible only when G ≤ N. A crop ready on day 28 can be harvested before the season changes.

For repeat crops, H = 1 + floor((N − G) / R) when N ≥ G, where R is the unmodified regrowth interval. Otherwise H = 0. Without replanting, a single-harvest crop gives at most one harvest; with immediate replanting H = floor(N / G).

Seed batches equal max(1, H) for a replanted single-harvest crop, or one for a repeat plant. We do not buy another batch that cannot mature. Seeds bought for a zero-harvest plan are still a loss.

A quality item price is floor(base price × quality multiplier). Tiller then applies floor(quality item price × 1.1) for eligible crops. For example, silver Parsnip sells for floor(35 × 1.25) = 43g, or floor(43 × 1.1) = 47g with Tiller.

For raw sales, revenue = plants × harvests × revenue per harvest. For processed sales, revenue counts completed goods plus any raw leftovers sold in the selected window. Extra crop items are normal quality. Net profit = completed sales − seed batches × seed price × plants − fertilizer cost per tile × plants. Daily profit divides net profit by available growth days.

A 27-day strawberry plan produces harvests after days 8, 12, 16, 20 and 24: 600g revenue and 500g net profit per tile at normal quality. On Spring 13, only 15 growth days remain: two harvests without Speed-Gro, three with Speed-Gro.

Acceleration uses the numerical first-harvest duration from each verified crop calendar. Percentage reduction alone is not a universal timing rule: stage limits and rounding can change the result. Fertilizer and Agriculturist bonuses stack for first growth but never shorten regrowth.

Total ROI is 100 × net profit / selected cash costs. Daily ROI divides this by the growing window; the optional initial-cycle convention uses first maturity for non-repeat crops. Zero-cost ROI is undefined, not a zero return.

Use Compare sale routes in a crop result to evaluate all six alternatives. Queues include processing and aging time; future inventory is not counted as current sales. Harvests are listed by real calendar date.

Calculation assumptions

  • Water each growth day. The planting day is not a growth day; harvests on the last day are included.
  • Fixed quality is a sale scenario. Expected quality uses Farming level, food and fertilizer; seasonal forage uses Foraging, Gatherer and Botanist.
  • Outdoor cross-season plans stop when the crop becomes invalid. Tea Bushes survive winter but only harvest outdoors in spring, summer and fall on days 22–28.
  • Keg and jar queues use published processing minutes, including the accelerated overnight clock. Products completing after the growing window are stock, not realized revenue. Collect and refill machines as soon as they finish.
  • Equipment 0 means enough machines for all available batches, not instant processing. Cask 0 likewise means unconstrained cask count; aging time is still included.
  • Seed budget caps initial planting, not repeated reinvestment. Found, crafted and bartered seeds have zero cash cost, not zero ingredient value or unlimited availability.
  • Net profit = completed product sales + selected raw sales − seed costs − fertilizer costs. ROI is undefined when selected costs are zero.
  • Daily profit and daily ROI use the full growing window. The optional cycle ROI ranking uses initial growth for non-repeat crops, matching the alternative comparison convention.
  • Machine and crafting capital costs, watering labor, honey, giant crops, crop fairies and mods are excluded. Rice and Taro use non-irrigated growth times.
  • Seed recovery is a planning expectation rather than a guaranteed seed yield. Random simulation is reproducible from the shared simulation seed, not a prediction of a real save file.
